affordable housing
Jonathan believes in housing as a human right. As an officer on the East Providence Zoning Board of Appeals, he knows that zoning reform is a good first step, but not enough to ensure affordable housing for the many who need it. Jonathan believes in exploring creative policy to promote expanding responsible development and affordable renovation to ensure that people in in our city are, at least, warm, safe, and dry; and, for those who wish to pursue it, the American dream of home ownership is within reach here in East Providence.

transportation
IA running joke growing up in Rhode Island was asking for directions and hearing back, “You can’t get there from here.” With East Providence roads riddled with post-winter craters, and stifled by the traffic congestion caused by the closure of the westbound side of the Washington Bridge, that joke is not so funny anymore. Add to that the reduction in bus routes by RIPTA, and the old joke isn’t so funny anymore. Jonathan wants to expand on the long-term concepts to improve bike and pedestrian travel in the city into a comprehensive transit plan to improve mobility for walkers, bikers, drivers, and riders.
integrity
“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”
– Simon Sinek
Government’s power to effect change lives only in the trust they earn from the people. While no decision made by those in office can satisfy everyone, providing an honest explanation for why an ordinance was introduced, a vote was cast, or a mistake was made is the price of admission to elected office. Jonathan is not running with the backing of corporate interests, a large campaign “war chest,” or the recognition of incumbency. Rather, he is running on his ideas and his integrity. His promise to the people is to do his homework on every issue, and to explain why he takes the actions he does. Furthermore, Jonathan vows to provide the same level of oversight and scrutiny to those with whom he serves throughout all of city government.
